How Physio Care Whitby puts clients first

The team of professionals at Physio Care Physiotherapy in Whitby pride themselves on offering the best possible level of care to clients as they guide them to restoration of health and in many cases, relief from pain.

“We go beyond the problems of the patients to understand the underlying condition,” explains Gamal Gouda, clinic manager and a well-known physician specializing in nephrology in his home country, Egypt. “It’s very important here that we don’t just treat symptoms.”

With an expert team that includes physiotherapists, massage therapists, a chiropractor, an osteopath and a dietician, Physio Care offers clients all the benefits of staff expertise with up-to-date techniques and equipment in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Feeling at home begins in the reception area, where clients are welcome to help themselves to a cup of coffee. Each will receive an initial assessment lasting about an hour and a half, with regular treatment sessions lasting at least an hour. Clients come through the door with many problems, including sports injuries, accident injuries, or the need to restore muscle strength and joint movement following surgery. Many have chronic problems that might leave them with limited range of motion or pain. The team at Physio Care sets out to tailor an individualized treatment program to help each of them.

Dr. Gouda, who graduated from the Ontario School of Osteopathy and Alternative Medicine in Toronto as an osteopathic manual practitioner, has four highly qualified physiotherapists on staff, including his wife Ghada Shendy, who headed the Department of Physical Therapy at the College of Health Science for Girls and The University of King Abdel Aziz in Saudi Arabia. She specializes in the care of the pelvic floor, and can help patients who need to strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor following childbirth.

The couple opened their physiotherapy clinic in the Kendalwood Plaza in Whitby in 2014, after moving to the community in 2010. They had visited Canada in 2008 and fell in love with the country.

“We have a very high standard of skill with our physiotherapists,” continues Dr. Gouda, who notes two have more than 20 years’ experience. Staff stay up to date on current treatment techniques, and the clinic includes the latest in machines such as shockwave, ultrasound and bioflex laser therapy.

The clinic takes referrals from area doctors or walk-in patients, and communicates with a client’s physician at no extra charge.

“We have strong communication with medical doctors,” says Dr. Gouda, who adds that more than a dozen local physicians attend Physio Care for treatment themselves.

Physio Care bills directly to a client’s insurance company and offers a seniors’ rate for those on a fixed income. Staff will also work with clients who have no insurance, says Dr. Gouda. “We make it reasonable; usually we can help them,” he adds.
